Yesterday, a number of armed assailants stormed a maternity hospital run by Doctors Without Border in west of Kabul city, leaving dozens of civilians, newborns and nurses killed and injured.
Earlier, the Afghan Ministry of Interior (MoI) pronounced 13 civilians, mostly women and infants, killed and 15 others wounded.
The Ministry of Public Health, however, announced an increased number of casualties from the yesterday’s appalling attack in Dasht-e-Barchi (PD13) of Kabul city.
According to the health ministry’s data, at least 24 people were killed, while 16 more civilians were among those injured in the attack.

Early on Tuesday’s morning (May 12), three gunmen attacked a maternity hospital which was run by the Doctors Without Border, and opened fired at women, newborns and health workers.
According to reports, the ISIS (ISIL) affiliates claimed responsibility for the assault.
The attack in west of capital Kabul was followed by a deadly suicide attack at a mourning ceremony in the eastern Nangarhar province, leaving dozens of civilians killed and injured. No group has so far claimed responsibility.
