MoPH: Over Past 24 Hours No Cases of Coronavirus Recorded in Afghanistan

March 18 (The Killid Group) – So far, 273 suspected cases of the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Afghanistan, of which only 22 have tested positive, officials in the Afghan Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) told The Killid Group reporter.
Waheedullah Mayar, the spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health said in a press conference on Wednesday [March 18, 2020] that no clinics, private hospitals and any other authorities are allowed to test people for the coronavirus.
According to him, test centers for the pandemic coronavirus (COVID-19) have been activated in all provinces.
The economic impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), on the other hand, have raised concerns among residents of the country.
Qais, a resident of Kabul, said to The Killid Group reporter, the prices of edible raw materials have been soared in the country’s markets as the coronavirus has spread.
He accused the capital’s merchants and storekeepers of overpricing and hoarding.
Jawad, a shop owner in Kabul city, however, claimed that some traders have misused [the opportunity] and forced people to sell their products, but now the markets have returned to normal.
However, members of the Afghanistan House of Representatives (Wolesi Jirga) accused the government of negligence in fight against the pandemic coronavirus.
Mohammadullah Batash, a member of the Wolesi Jirga, said that the Afghan traders should be prosecuted for hoarding.
The Ministry of the Interior said in a statement that all hotels, swimming pools, baths and sports complexes should be closed in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
