(TKG) ─ Salang Highway has been blocked to land traffics due to heavy snowfalls, officials in Salang Maintenance and Monitoring Department said.
The head of Salang Maintenance and Monitoring Department, Mohammad Zamir Omarkhil, told The Killid Radio that the heavy snow is ongoing with Salang highway and has closed the highway to land traffics since last night.
The highway has been blocked due to the fears of avalanches, Omarkhil said.
He added that severe storm has not allowed them to clean up the highway.
The Salang Highway is one of the largest highways in the country, connecting Kabul with at least 9 provinces in the north.
This highway is closed every year in winter due to heavy snowfall and snowstorms.
