Turkish President to Meet Leaders of Russia, France, Germany for Idlib Summit

(TKG) − According to media reports, Turkish President will meet the leaders of Russia, France and Germany for Idlib summit on fifth of March of the ongoing year.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday, February 23, 2020, he will meet the leaders of Russia, France and Germany to discuss the conflicts and de-escalate violence in the northwest Idlib city of Syria in the next month.

Mr. Erdogan, according to media reports, said he will meet the leaders of the aforementioned countries on fifth of March but did not specify where it will take place.

His comments on Saturday came as, according to the Turkish defense ministry, a Turkish soldier was killed in Syria’s Idlib province in a bomb attack by government forces.

Prior to this, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and France President Emanuel Macron called on Turkey and Russia to look for a political solution for Idlib’s conflicts.

Thousands of Turkish soldiers have been deployed in Syria’s northwest city of Idlib to fight against Kurdish soldiers, which Turkey considers it an insurgency group.
