Lebanon Announces Formation of New Government
(TKG) ─ Media reported, Lebanon has announced the formation of a new government after Hezbollah and its allies clinched a deal on a cabinet that is now tasked with tackling the country’s worst economic crisis in decades.
The government, under Prime Minister Hassan Diab, was formed on Tuesday [January 21, 2020] after the Hezbollah group and its allies agreed on a cabinet of 20 specialists.
Prime Minister Hassan Diab, a 60-year-old professor at the American University of Beirut, heads the cabinet of 20 members, mostly specialists backed by political parties.
The country has been without an effective government since caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri resigned in October 2019 under pressure from protests against state corruption and mismanagement.
