(TKG) ─ According to Iranian state television, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in his televised speech on Wednesday [January 8, 2020] that U.S. troops should leave the region.

According to the sources, he has called his country’s missile strike on U.S. targets in Iraq a “slap in the face” for the United States adding that Washington’s troops must end their presence in the region.

Khamenei’s remarks on Wednesday came hours after the missile strikes hit the Ain al-Asad base in Anbar province and a facility in Erbil where U.S. troops were stationed, reports added.

Iran launched missile fires following the U.S. assassination of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani in Iraq last week.
