During the annual anti-corruption conference in the Presidential Palace, President Ghani added that successful anti-corruption efforts need long-term and sustainable efforts of government and civil institutions, as well as building public supports to combat against corruption.
President Ghani called upon civil society to complete the list of candidates for the Anti-Corruption Commission as soon as possible.
President Ghani also called upon the interior ministry to immediately detain the perpetrators of corruption, including former commander of Afghan National Civil Order Policeman (ANCOP), Zemarai Paikan.
Despite the counter-corruption efforts in the country, this phenomenon still exists as a major problem in governmental offices.
