It was quoted in a statement released by the office of President as saying that President Ashraf Ghani met with Iran’s special envoy Mohammad Ibrahim Taherian last night [December 7, 2019].
Mohammad Ibrahim Taherian provided information on the recent visit of the Taliban’s delegation to Tehran and said Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms its principled stance which is respect for Afghanistan Constitution, the source added.
Both sides discussed on efforts to expand bilateral relations as well as on Afghan peace process.
According to Mr. Taherian, “Tehran fully supports the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.”
President Ghani said the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan puts any effort in place to establish sustainable peace and stability in the country, that will ensure peace and stability in the region.
