Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai deputy of Taliban’s political office and his delegation met with Roland Kobia, the European Union’s special envoy for Afghanistan and Markus Potzel, the German special representative for the country.

Sohail Shaheen, the spokesman for Taliban’s office in Qatar, wrote on his Twitter page [November 28, 2019] that holding the meeting, the two sides discussed political solutions to Afghan issues as well as the reconciliation process.

Taliban’s delegation, led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, head of Taliban’s political office in Qatar, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday [November 25, 2019].

According to Shaheen, during the meeting, the two sides discussed the peaceful resolution of the Afghan issue, Afghan refugees in Iran and many other issues.

The meeting was held when Gen. Mark Milley, U.S. Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff expressed hopes for successful peace talks with Taliban in the ‘near term.’

He said that chances of ‘a successful outcome’ from peace talks are higher than before and could happen in the ‘near term.’
