FARAH  (The Killid Group) – The provincial office of the Independent Election Commission fears 50 percent of the polling stations may remain shut during the upcoming presidential elections on 28th September.

Monir Parsa, Head of the IEC provincial office, told The Killid there are 224 voting centers in the province, of which 161 will remain shut during the elections.

According to Parsa, the 161 stations are located in Bakwa, Khak Safed and Gulistan districts, where the Taliban have highly influenced and is impossible for the people to cast their vote by risking their lives.

The statistic by the IEC provincial office said more than 73,000 qualified people have registered their names to determine their choice of next president.

Meanwhile, Shuaib Sabet, Farah Governor, exclaimed that security measures to ensure people’s safety during elections have been taken.
