NEW YORK, United States – In the sideline of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan met with the US Special Envoy for Afghan peace Zalmay Khalilzad, discussing progress on peace talks with the Taliban.
According to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Khalilzad shared with the premier “how far his negotiations with the Taliban had gone, the nature of the talks and what expectations he holds in the future,” as Dawn reported.
“So he presented his entire analysis of the US-Taliban talks,” he added.
The talks came a week after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan vowed to support upcoming presidential elections in Afghanistan, as he discussed peace and elections process with Afghan president Ashraf Ghani on a phone call.
