Tree Logger Faces Heavy Fine by Afghan Government

On Wednesday, August 28, 2019, a private company logged at least 24 trees on a street in Afghan capital, without a legal consent, which lead the Kabul Municipality to impose a heavy fine worth of 6.6 million Afghanis, and introduced the company to judicial organs for further actions.

Mohammad ul-Din, who has worked for the Municipality for ten years, said, “when I came in the morning, everywhere was piled up with logged trees; I whined and cried out loud, but was of no use. The trees, which I watered despite challenges and raised like my children, are cruelly cut down into pieces.”

The move by the private company sparked a widespread of reactions among residents in social media and Afghan government.
