HERAT (The Killid Group) – Local Farmers, in collaboration with government officials, held the Grape and Honey Festival and Agricultural Livestock Products Exhibition in Herat province.
Naseer Ahmad Durani, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, optimistic about the increase of Herat horticultural and livestock products, while expressing concerns on exporting products to the world market.
“Horticultural products have a good market in both, local and foreign markets; but lack of regularities in international flights in the country has hampered the process of exporting these goods,” he said.
Meanwhile, Abdul Saboor Rahmani, Head of provincial office of MAIL, told The Killid, “in this exhibition, 53 booths are established, which display different kinds of agricultural products of Herat province, including grapes and honey.”
The event is going to last for three days, he added.
Local MAIL authorities estimated 8,000 hectares of land cultivated grapes in the province, which will provide some 135,000 metrics tons of grapes – showing a 14 percent increase comparing last year.
