PAKTIA (The Killid Group) – The National Security Council stressed on investigating civilian casualties in Zermat district of Paktia province, calling on the National Directorate of Security to probe the situation seriously.
In a statement by NSC released Wednesday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani called on the Council to investigate the ongoing situations and recent operation carried by Afghan security forces in Zermat district of Paktia province.
According to the statement, NDS has been tasked with investigating and dealing with those forces deployed in the operation.
The order came after Sunday operation by the NDS 01 Unit in Zermat district, which killed at least 11 civilians.
Previously, the CIA-funded NDS 01 Unit had been accused of war crimes and civilian casualties.
