KABUL (The Killid Group) – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani says the country is looking forward to strengthen its diplomatic ties with India, as he greeted PM Narendra Modi on India’s 73rd Independence Day.

“As a close friend of India, Afghanistan is very keen to further strengthening its relationship and partnership with India, which rests on mutual trust,” Ghani said.

He believes India has been a great friend of Afghanistan in times of adversity and has helped extensively to maintain stability and security in the region and the world.

The President also noted Afghanistan-India relations in many areas, including trade, science, technology and culture.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi – who spoke at the 73rd anniversary of Indian independence – congratulated Afghanistan on its 100th anniversary and wished that Afghanistan could best celebrate its anniversary.

India fights tough against those who spread terrorism, Modi said.

Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka are countries affected by terrorism and all countries in the world must come together to counter this threat, he exclaimed.
