BALKH (The Killid Group) – Afghan security forces drove away the Taliban attack against forces’ posts in Siyah Ab district of Balkh province, local authorities said.
Sayed Arif Iqbali, police commander of Sholgara district, told The Killid, “the Taliban’s attack is warded off, and as the result of clashes between the two, eight armed insurgents killed and further 13 wounded.”
Meanwhile, at least three Afghan forces are dead and two further injured, he added.
The Taliban attacked in a bid to gain control over the district; but faced heavy retaliation by Afghan security forces, according to Iqbali.
Sholgara district is one of the most insecure areas in Northern Province of the country.
