FARYAB (The Killid Group) – Afghan security forces carried airstrike in Bulchiragh district of Faryab in Northwest, inflicting causalities to some 44 Taliban insurgents, Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
According to the statement released Monday, Taliban first attacked against security forces in the district, which was then rebuffed by forces as the militants bore heavy loss.
At last 36 Taliban – including several of their commanders – killed and further eight wounded during the clashes.
Meanwhile, two Afghan forces killed and another three injured, the statement read.
Bulchiragh is one the mountainous districts in the province, located about 55km southeast of Maimana city, which was under Taliban’s control last year.
The group did not comment immediately on the incident.
