NANGARHAR (The Killid) – At least 19 anti-government insurgents surrendered their arm and weapons to the government, as they join peace process in Nangarhar province, National Directorate of Security said.

Shah Mahmoud Mia Khail, Nangarhar Governor, in a press conference Tuesday said amongst the surrendered militants are one Daesh members and 18 members of Taliban group.

According to the Governor, people who have just surrendered are those who used to plot and carry terrorist attacks in Khugyani, Momand Dara, Chirhar, Sorkhrud and Lal Poor districts in the province.

Meanwhile, the surrendered poeple called for their other members to yield and join them in peace process.

Their surrender come after the Afghan security forces carried consecutive operations in the province in a bid to clear areas of militant’s influences.

Taliban and Daesh militant did not immediately comment in this regards.
