GHAZNI (The Killid) – Commander of Third Regiment of the Afghan National Army in Ghazni, Colonel Abdul Mubin Mujtaba, was killed Wednesday as two army soldiers opened fire against him in Qara Bagh district, Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The attack by two Army soldiers, affiliated to the Taliban, comes at a time Mujtaba went to Qara Bagh district to inspect the security situations.
According to sources, Colonel Mujtaba and a number of security officials were assessing the security situation of checkpoints along the Ghazni-Kandahar Highway when he came under attack by the suspected army soldiers.
One of the attackers was killed and another was wounded, sources added.
Meanwhile, Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, adding at least four US soldiers have also been killed.
