AGRA, India – At least 29 people were killed and dozens further injured, as a bus with some 50 passengers on board fell off into a canal in India Monday, according to local media.
The bus overturned at the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Uttar Pradesh and fell into a canal while traveling from Lucknow to Delhi, sources reported.
The driver of the bus was suspected to have fallen asleep before the double-decker bus hit a divider and fell into a gap between two flyovers on the Yamuna expressway from Delhi to Agra, according to police.
Rescue operations are underway at the site of the incident.
