FARYAB (The Killid) – A number of unknown gunmen shot a woman dead and wounded another in an ambush attack at PD2 of Maimana city of Faryab in northwest Afghanistan, local authorities confirmed.
Karim Yourish, Spokesman for the local police, told The Killid, “unknown gunmen yesterday (Saturday) evening, stormed two women using Kalashnikov, as result a women, 65, killed and another injured.”
The suspects escaped the scene.
According to Yourish, cause for the attack is unclear, but investigation is underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Since the beginning of the year, at least 30 women reported killed and or committed suicide due to family issues in the province, according to a statistic by the local authorities.
