KANDAHAR (The Killid) – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani inaugurated a number of public welfare projects Wednesday, as he arrived in Kandahar province in South.
Ghani inaugurated the newly-constructed Kandahar Airport Road and named it after late General Abdul Raziq, who was assassinated by a Taliban infiltrator last year.
According to the Presidential Palace (also ARG), the road has been built with a cost of 2.8 billion Afghanis funded by the government.
Meanwhile, Ghani launched second phase of the solar power plant that has the capacity to generate 30MW of power, with a cost of $39 million.

President Ghani is due to meet with elders, Ulama, youth, and women in Kandahar following inauguration ceremonies.

KANDAHAR (The Killid) – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani named Kandahar International Airport after the first emir of Afghanistan Ahmad Shah Baba, as he made an official trip to the province early Wednesday.
“President @AshrafGhani leading a high-rank delegation arrived in Kandahar province this morning,” said ARG in a tweet Wednesday. “Beside meeting with elders, Ulama, youth and women of Kandahar, the president will inaugurate a number of public welfare projects including Kandahar Airport Road and solar power plant.”
He is expected to in inaugurate a number of public welfare projects, including main highway to the airport and solar power plant, and meet with elderlies, women and youth in southern province of Kandahar.
