KABUL (The Killid) – The Taliban militant claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack at Police District 16 of Afghan capital, which left at least four dead and 65 further injured, including children.
Spokesman of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Zabiuallah Mojahed said in a tweet, “Logistics & Engineering center of #Kabul MoD in PD2 [correction: PD16] of #Kabul city targeted with VBIED followed by multiple martyrdom seekers entering & engaging remaining hirelings.”
The attack left dozens wounded, although the exact figure is unclear; but the Waheedullah Mayar, Spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, said at least 65 people are landed at hospital for special care.
Amongst the wounded are nine children, and one confirmed dead, according to Mayar.
Reactions of Afghan politicians and International Allies
Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah condemned the attack saying such a move clearly reflects on Taliban’s “nature” of rooting criminality.
“The Taliban’s terrorist attack near the Football Federation today in Kabul showcases the group’s inherent criminal nature,” he said in a tweet Monday. “We will not be deterred by such outrage to pursue & punish the miscreants.”

NATO Senior Civilian Representative to Afghanistan Nicholas Kay said in a tweet “Today’s bomb in Kabul and yesterday’s attack on Mar’uf district centre have caused indiscriminate civilian casualties.”
Meanwhile, The United States Embassy in Kabul said it condemn the Taliban’s “brutal attack” against fellow Afghans.
“The US Emb was not impacted by the ongoing #KabulAttack,” said US Embassy in Kabul in a tweet Monday. “Our thanks to the first responders in Kbl for their dedication to their fellow Afg citizens, and our condolences to those affected by the attack. We strongly condemn the Taliban’s latest brutal attack against fellow Afgs.”

It comes at a time the United States and Taliban representatives are negotiating for peace and security in Afghanistan, as they marked the seventh round of talks in Doha, Qatar.
