KABUL (The Killid) – At around 8:50 am on Monday, a loud explosion at Police District 16 rocked Afghan capital, disrupting the relative calm routine at one of the most crowded areas.
Nasrat Rahimi, Spokesman for the Ministry of Interior Affairs, said “the blast is due to an explosive car blown off near Gulbahar Tower at PD16.”
According to Rahimi, a number of insurgents entered a building, and clashes on going between them and Afghan security forces.
Officials of the football federation said its employees suffered casualties, including a number of its players.
Meanwhile, Wahidullah Mayar, Spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, said so far at least 38 people are landed at nearing hospitals, with a few in sever conditions.
He fears the number of casualties might increase.
Among the victims are students of a private school that got jolted during the blast and caused its wall to fall off, eyewitnesses said to The Killid’s reporter at the scene.
High number of casualties are feared, since there is no exact figure yet.
So far no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The explosion occurred in Police District 16, close to Pul-e-Mahmood Khan, of Kabul city, sources said. The area is close to Afghanistan Football Federation and Ghazi Stadium.
Gunfire being heard from the blast scene, according to eyewitnesses.
Officials from the football federation said at least 16 of its members were wounded and the building has been damaged.
Some 20 people who suffered casualties are landed in nearby hospitals, sources added.
