HERAT (The Killid) – At least 10 Taliban insurgents, including their key commander, killed during clashes in western province of Herat, local authorities said.
General Aminullah Amarkhail, local police general said, “last night (Saturday), Resolute Support forces carried airstrikes at Azizabad district of Shindan,” killing at least 10 Taliban insurgent, including their key commander Mullah Awaz (known Ghazi Awaz).
“Taliban also retreated after they carried attack at Ganabad district of Obba,” he added.
The militant group suffered great loss, according to Amarkahil.
Taliban so far did not comment on the incident.
Saturday’s attack marks the third attempt of Taliban in bid to take control over security posts in the area, but got defeated each times.
