Balkh (The Killid) – A number of residents and Provincial Council members expressed concerns over rising insecurities in North, urging government to take immediate action.   

Members of the council claimed the Taliban have full control over several districts in the province, as well as corruptions and briberies are at its peak.

Sayed Abdullah Musawer, Deputy to Provincial Council, said Afghan forces failed to bring peace in the area, adding Taliban will not be defeated unless security forces carry series of airstrikes and ground combat that will break down their spirit.

Meanwhile, a number of residents in Mazar-e-Sharif conveyed similar concerns, saying the city’s security situations has worsen comparing recent months.

From the other hand, widespread gossiping are said to have affected people, ruining peace of mind, as they urged government to ensure security.

Adel Shah Adel, spokesman for the local police, said to The Killid, Afghan security forces have full control over Balkh province, mainly Mazar-e-Sharif City, and the Taliban has no capacity to plot any attack against residents.

While he admits certain rumors in the city about Taliban, Adel said special unit of security forces are carrying operations to clear city of armed insurgents.
