HERAT (The Killid) – At least 10 Taliban insurgents were killed during a battle with Afghan security forces in Chasht district of Herat province in West, local authorities said.

Abdul Ahad Wali Zada, Spokesman for the local police, said to The Killid, “last night, the Taliban insurgents – head by Mowlawi Ahmad Shah Din Doost, Mollah Abdul Rahmann Maldar, and Mullah Mustafa – raided at Rubatak and Dahn Hamwar villages of the Chasht district, targeting security posts in the area; but faced heavy response by defense forces.”

According to Wali Zada, during the clashes, four of arm insurgents were killed, including two of their key commanders. Further six were wounded.

Afghan security forces were also able to discover and defuse at least six roadside mines planted by the Taliban in the area.

Security forces did not suffer any casualties.

Chasht is one of the most insecure areas in the province, where officials feared of Taliban targeting Salma Dam Herat.
