Taliban in the areas under their control have ordered the farmers to grow poppy, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said.
Nasrat Rahimi, spokesman for the ministry, said to The Killid, “Most of the areas in several provinces – which are under control of the Taliban – have planted poppy, as ordered by pre-dominated Taliban group.”
According to Rahimi, the officials said security plans include targeting factories that produce narcotic drugs in the country.
Meanwhile, John Spoko, the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan’s Reconstruction, has recently called narcotic drugs a threat to Afghanistan’s security and economy.
