Iran, China Discusses Afghan Peace

Iran, China Discusses Afghan Peace

Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Deng Xijun and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araghchi met Monday in Tehran, discussing Afghan peace process, according to local news agency.

During the talks, both sides highlighted the latest political and security situations in Afghanistan, as well as the ongoing peace efforts in the country.

In light of the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan, the two sides also stressed the need to support the Afghan peace process under the direction and supervision of the government, Mehar News reported.

They also stressed the need for developing cooperation towards the peace process for war-free Afghanistan, considering mutual interests.

The meeting between Araghchi and Xijun was held within the framework of regular consultations between the two states on the issue of Afghanistan, the report said.
