General Joseph Dunford says the United States sees a must need to maintain its military operations until there is no insurgency left in Afghanistan, suggesting a far longer military presence even after nearly two decades of war.

The remarks come as the US in the past months started peace talks with the Taliban negotiating in several meetings, with militant groups insisting for foreign troops withdrawal still in the Afghanistan.
