United States Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad arrived in Kabul on Sunday night, making it a second drop as he embarked on multi-nation trips on peace in the country.
Khalilzad aims to consult the status of talks between the US and Taliban – mainly the outcome of Doha talks – with the Afghan government and representatives from different layers of the society, as well as he encourages efforts to form an inclusive negotiating team to further discuss peace in the country.
“…I started my morning by meeting with #Afghan government representatives with responsibility for the #AfghanPeaceProcess, including the President’s Chief of Staff Rahimi & SE Daudzai, he said in a tweet Monday. “We discussed the urgency of making progress on intra-Afghan dialogue.”

“…We talked about our countries’ shared values, and about the meaningful political and social gains in Afghanistan over the last 18 years, especially for women and children, which must be prioritized in the peace process,” he said in a tweet last week.
