BAMYAN (The Killid) – Bamyan launches its first local sports festival (also local games) in Shebar district of the central province, with 100 participants from different areas.
Local authorities in the district considered this initiatives a restoration of local sports and carnival games such as rope-pulling, wrestling, racing and rocking, adding many of local games have been forgotten among the people.
Azim Farid, district governor, told The Killid, “Local authorities, in cooperation with residents, will give live and promote the traditional practices and games among people.”
In this cultural and sport festival, hundreds of farmers, shepherds, local residents, sport enthusiasts and government officials have attended, in which some 100 sportsmen in various field were brought in the field for numerous competitions.
Wave of people and spectators cheered playing live music and tembors (traditional guitar), while some applaud and blew vessels during the games.
People warmly welcome such an initiative, saying this year is anticipated with love, joy and prosperity in the province and the country.
It comes at a time where residents mostly in central provinces have forgotten local and traditional games such as Playing Marble, Tub Danda and Ghursai, which accustomed to be common street games back then.
