German Muslims Dun for Security at Mosques

Muslim communities in Germany demanded government to consider security measures at all mosques in the country to ensure safety of the people.

Aiman Mazyek, Head of Central Council of Muslims in Germany, at a press conference in Berlin said that local police are taking necessary steps to insure security in the county, particularly surrounding mosques, to prevent possible threats and attacks.

Mazyek explained these precautions would not have just a symbolic meaning, but to demonstrate that the German government and society do care for Muslim minority communities and is responsible for ensuring their security.

Meanwhile, sources said that racial violence and discriminations against Muslims over the past years have increased in Germany, mainly after the recent flow of immigrants in the country.

The German police have recorded 578 cases of violence against Muslims in January through September 2018, adding at least 40 Muslims were further injured in racist attacks.

It comes after a tragic event where an armed man opened rages of fires randomly at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand last week, killing at least 50 and landed dozens in hospital.
