Balkh to Welcome Nowruz with Measurable Security Precautions

Balkh (The Killid) – Northern Province of Balkh will welcome Nowruz with measurable security precautions, as local security officials have organized several committees ensuring better facilitation and security for the citizens.

Abdulhaq Khurrami, provincial mayor, said since Mazar-e-Sharif on Nowruz (Afghan New Year) is host to a huge crown of people from different parts of the country, authorities have decorated the city with confetti ribbons and colorful lights throughout the city.

According to Khurrami, the municipality has personally seen some hotels and guesthouses surrounding Rowza (also called Blue Mosque) in a way to overlook the facilities, and has even called for several schools nearby to organize ushering and welcoming teams.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Eshaq Rahguzar, Balkh Governor, assured residents and guests of a measurable security precautions, which local security officials have been preparing for Nowruz.

Rahguzar added saying that people can now hold cultural event of Gule-e-Surkh with a peaceful mind and thoughts clear of insecurities in the city.

The officials have been investing day-and-night these days to ensure a peaceful environment, he added.

Adil Shah Adil, provincial police spokesperson, exclaimed his security teams had been able to carry military operations in at least four insecure districts of the province, as well as established checkpoints in different parts of the city.

According to Adil, security officials have been preparing for Nowruz for several months now, to ensure a celebration that is free from threats and fears.

Meanwhile, some residents in the province conveyed their appreciations to the local authorities for their efforts towards better security, particularly during New Year in Mazar-e-Shaif.

Nowruz is celebrated annually on the first day of the year with the rise of Mowla Ali’s Flag, as an approach to honor Ali ibn Abi Talib’s (cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Mohammad) bravery and rightfulness back then in 600s.

This ancient celebration is held with the participation of thousands of people form different provinces and even neighboring countries with various cultural and live music programs in the city.
