Afghan Cricketers Set World Record Beating Ireland

Afghanistan National Cricket Team set a new world record after beating Ireland with 278 runs within allotted 20 overs in the second T20 internationals of the three-match series in India on Saturday.
With this, Afghan Cricketers breakthrough the highest record of 263/3 by Australian team in T20l, which they topped over Sri Lanka at Pallekele in 2016.
After opting to bat, Hazratullah Zazai and Osman Ghani established a new record for the opening-wicket partnership with a 236-run stand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. In the end, Hazratullah Zazai was unbeaten on 162, highest score in T20 Internationals by an Asian batsman.
Cricket has been played in Afghanistan since the mid-19th century, but it is only in recent years that the national team has become successful.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board was formed in 1995, became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001 and a member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in 2003.
