Salang Pass (The Killid) – The Salang Pass – linking Kabul with the northern parts of the country – is reopened for traffic after at least 24 hours.
Abdul Basir Habibi, Maintenance Officer, said to the Killid around 2:00 early in the morning heavy snow fall and storm calmed, as our team started snow shoveling in the area.
According to Habibi, at 8:15 in the morning on Monday, only four-seat vehicles were granted to pass Salang; soon after large vehicles including van, bus and trucks were permitted to bypass the highway.
It comes after heavy snow falls and storms in Salang, which resulted to shutting off the highway for traffic several times in last couple weeks. Salang was halted four days for traffic last week.
