Herat (The Killid) – Unidentified gunmen shot and wounded Sayed Mohammad Sherzadi, head of Hajj and Religious Affairs Directorate of Herat province, as they rushed at his residence.
Aminullah Amarkhail, provincial security commander said, “A number of unidentified armed men around 8:00pm last night attacked Sayed Mohammad Sherazadi, head of Hajj and Religious Affair Directorate at his residence.”
According to Amarkhail, countless gunfire on the windows of his residence hit and wounded him.
Herat security commander stressed that investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators of the incident.
The motive behind the attack is unknown; no one has been nabbed in the case.
It comes after Sherzadi banned celebration of the Valentine’s Day in the province, as he dubbed the day as “promoting immoralities”.
