Herat (The Killid) – Herat local governance launched polio vaccine campaign toady with motto “Eliminating Poliomyelitis is Our National Responsibility”.
Ghulam Dawood Hashimi, Deputy to Herat governor, said we expect to vaccine about 300,000 children in the city, districts and distant areas during the 5-day campaign.
Hashimi expressing hope said that 91,000 children under age of five in Shindand district, 170,000 in the city and other districts, as well as about 21,000 other children under five amongst the displaced families in Shedayee are due to vaccine.
According to a statistic of public health in the province, at least two children is reported dead due to poliomyelitic disease in 2019, while seven similar lost are reported in 2018.
Meanwhile, Abdul Hakim Tamanna, head of public health in Herat said no case of poliomyelitis has been recorded in western zones during the past three years.
