Peace is Impossible without Leadership of Afghan Govt: Stoltenberg

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says Peace is impossible without leadership and ownership of Afghan government.
On sidelines of Munich Security Conference, Afghan president Ashraf Ghani met NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg discussing issues on Afghan-led peace process, counter terrorism and the role of regional countries, the Presidential Palace said in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, the NATO chief said they will support an Afghan-led peace process; and NATO member countries and partner are committed to working with Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, president Ghani said the Grand Consultative Jirga – a traditional assembly of leaders – will soon be held in Kabul, which will be attended by representatives of all provinces to further discuss peace process.
It comes after the president called for Grand Consultative Jirga on peace process last week which was advocated by numbers of politicians including former president Hamid Karzai.
According to the Presidential Palace, Ghani met with other leaders and high-ranking officials of different countries on sidelines of the 55th Munich Security Conference held in February 15-17.
More than 600 high-ranked international leaders, business tycoons, academia and civil society also attend the conference, discussing current crises and future security challenges.
