Haroon Chakhansuri, Presidential Administrative Affairs Deputy, in respond to Talibans spokesman Zabiullah Mojahid’s tweet wrote that Anas Haqqani is in prison and no decision over freeing him has been made.
Chakhansuri also tweeted, “Afghan government is obliged to comply with law, and those committed crime against Afghans, will be dealt accordingly.”
It comes after Taliban released a list stating 14 members, including Anas Haqqani, who will negotiate in peace talks with Afghan government and the US; Zabiullah Mojahid tweeted that Anas Haqqani is included in the negotiating team list, however, is not yet freed from the prison bars.
“Because he was a student and had not committed any crime based on which he should be imprisoned, thus, he should be freed so that he could start his work with negotiating team,” Mojahid also tweeted.
Anas Haqqani son of Jalauddin Haqqani, founder of the Haqqani Network and stepbrother to Sirajuddin Haqqani who is a leader to the network, was arrested by Afghan security forces and is in Afghan government imprisonment.
