Amendment of the election law – an issue insisted by election monitoring organization, presidential candidates, and political parties – has been just ratified by the cabinet and signed by Afghan president.
This matter has been discussed between political parties, presidential candidates, and election monitoring organization under the leadership of Sarwar Danish, Second Vice President to Afghanistan which has been approved today, February 12.
Head of the Free and Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan (FEFA) stressed on a joint meeting led by the second vice president and political parties, which resulted in voters list to be biometric in the coming presidential elections, and some significant improvement would also be added to the system.
Utilizing full capacities of digital biometrics in all stages of elections, and transforming electoral system from Single Non-Transferable Vote (SNTV) into Multi-Dimensional Representation (MDR), were issues agreed upon the fourth consultative meeting.
