Sari Pul (Killid) – at least eight police officers were killed in clashes with Taliban militants over several security forces posts in Sayad district of Sari Pul, Provincial officials confirmed. Three others, including their commander, have been wounded.
Provincial Council Head Mohammad Noor Rahmani said, “Taliban militants have attacked on a number of the Afghan Security Forces posts on Sunday morning at 01:00am. As result two of our posts have fallen in their hand, including a Police Ranger (a Ford Ranger commonly used by Afghan Forces).”
Rahmani, however, did not provide details on insurgents’ causalities.
According to the provincial security officials, more than 95 percent of the district is fallen into Taliban’s hand, and only central part is under security forces control.
