Some religious scholars, farmers, and environmental activists agreed during a workshop in Bamyan today that animals by no means should be harassed.
Religious scholar Haji Mohammad Sadeqi said people should not harass and slaughter animals. Just like human, animals too are creatures; inappropriate approach towards them is unacceptable, he added.
A number of participants at the workshop proposed the farmers and shepherds should provide enough food, water, shelters and medical care to their animals.
Meanwhile, residents in local areas of Bamyan province use horse, cow and similar animals for farming and transportation of goods.
Dr. Haider, a Veterinarian said these villagers vastly use animals for farming, transportation of goods, and even transportation of children to their schools.
Bamyan is a mountainous province where up to 80 percent of people are farmers depending on animals.
