The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced this afternoon that a number of polling stations did not open as scheduled and if this situation continues, they will be opened on Sunday for people to vote.
The commission’s Chief Abdul Badi Sayyad said that the IEC will still take a final decision on this as some of the affected polling stations will open this afternoon.
“This will ensure that everyone has a fair chance to vote,” he added.
Meanwhile eyewitnesses and reporters said that non-availability of voter lists, dysfunctional biometric devices and election observers without specific cards were some of the issues which led to postponing the vote in some polling stations in today’s election.
