Tens of Taliban Members Killed in Kunar

At least 51 Taliban members including three senior commanders of the group were killed and six of them were wounded in defensive and security forces’ joint operation in Kunar province, officials said.

The 201 Silab Corps in a press release said the Taliban militants suffered heavy casualties at the vicinity of Asmar and Ghazi Abad districts.

According to press release, Mavlawi Hazrat Ali, Taliban’s shadow chief district for Asmar district, Mawlawi Omran, Taliban’s shadow chief district for Ghazi Abad and Sultan Muhammad another senior commander of the group were among the killed in Afghan forces’ operation.

The government forces assured the operation had no civilian casualties and a large number of Taliban’s arms and weapons were destroyed during the operation.

The Taliban group has not commented regarding the incident so far.
