Local officials in Herat said that the practical work on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) Pipeline project will kick off in three days.
The project will be inaugurated by heads of states of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Acting Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani is in Herat for this purpose and has talked with provincial local and security officials on inauguration of the project.
The project will transfer gas from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India via a 1,814km pipeline.
Government has plans to generate at least 100 megawatts of power by using the TAPI gas.
