Sixty-seven people, including policemen and Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers, were freed from Taliban captivity in Afghan security forces’ raid in Helmand province.
Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that the operations were conducted in two separate prisons based on an intelligence tip off.
According to MoD, released prisoners were transferred to Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces.
Twenty of the prisoners have been transferred to Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces and the remaining 47 will also be transferred to the province soon.
In reaction to the statement, Taliban militants said that Afghan security forces conducted an operation on civilians in Baghran district and have taken 53 civilians with them.
