An American soldier has succumbed to the injuries he sustained during an accident in eastern Nangarhar province, the US military said.
In a statement, the US Forces-Afghanistan said yesterday that two other American service members were injured in the accident. They are under medical treatment.
The service members were not in contact with enemy forces at the time of the accident, the statement added. The latest fatality raises number of US forces killed this year in Afghanistan to 14.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own,” said Gen. John Nicholson, commander of US Forces-Afghanistan. “Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with the families and friends of our fallen and injured comrades.”
