At least 75 Taliban insurgents were killed and 25 injured in a joint military operation conducted by Afghan security forces in Shendand district of Herat.
Jailani Farhad, spokesman for Herat governor, told Killid that the operation codenamed ‘Azm Khalid 21’ was launched in Jack, Sarayak, Merhaidar, Alibek, Deh Naw, Deh Pahlawan, and Azizabad areas of the district over the past 10 days.
Farhad added that 12 suspects were also arrested in connection with terrorist activities.
Farhad further stated that several prominent Taliban commanders were killed during the operation.
Taliban militants are yet to comment.
