Militants’ attack on Shamshad TV complex ended after killing of two insurgents. Attackers stormed Shamshad TV station this morning after detonating explosives at their gate.
At least two other insurgents entered the building and started randomly shooting Shamshad TV staff.
Officials in Shamshad TV said that the broadcast resumed after the clash ended.
Nasim Pashtun, head of Shamshad TV, told Killid that two of their security guards were killed and a number of TV staff were injured but the exact number was yet to be determined. He said most of the staff escaped – even by jumping out the windows.
Meanwhile a Press release from ARG (Presidential Palace) stated that President Ashraf Ghani also condemned the attack and said that terrorists cannot limit media and freedom of expression by conducting such heinous acts.
The statement added that Ghani said that the government will adopt serious measures to protect media outlets and journalists in the country who work for public awareness.
Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack.
